F.R.S.-FNRS ED15 best PhD thesis award 2023
Call for applications:
The F.R.S.-FNRS Doctoral School ED15 is proud to announce the creation of yearly F.R.S.-FNRS ED15 best PhD thesis awards.
The 2023 award, amounting to 1,000 EUR and attributed in 2024, is aimed to honor a young PhD who publicly defended her/his PhD thesis in 2023, in one of the Belgian Universities supported by the F.R.S.-FNRS.
Based on the submission files, the 3 best candidates will be selected to present a 30 min summary of their thesis work at a public scientific meeting aimed for a PhD student audience. The prize money and certificates will be attributed based on the quality of the work and presentation.
Applications are now open for the F.R.S.-FNRS ED15 best PhD thesis award 2024.
Applications should be sent to with ‘ED15 best PhD thesis award application’ in the title of the email.
Deadline = 30 April 2024
Eligibility:
- A young PhD who publicly defended her/his PhD thesis between January 1st to December 31st, 2023 and who, for this work, was awarded a PhD degree by one of the partner Universities of the French-speaking Community of Belgium (CFB): UCLouvain, ULB, ULiège, UMons, UNamur.
- Affiliated to the F.R.S.-FNRS Doctoral School in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (ED15) - https://www.edt-sbp.be - and to at least one of its affiliated thematic doctoral schools (Experimental Cancerology; Neurosciences; Immunology [EDIM]); Pharmaceutical Sciences; Cellular and Molecular Biology and Biochemistry [BCNB]); Molecular, supramolecular and Functional Chemistry [CHIM]; Physiology, Physiopathology and Pharmacology; Veterinary Sciences [VETSCI]; Structure and Functions of Biological macromolecules, Bioinformatics and Models [SFMBBM]).
- The field of the PhD work to be awarded must be related to one of these themes.
- Any nationality.
- Any age.

The President and the Scientific Council of ED15 are sovereign in all decisions concerning eligibility, evaluation procedures including conflicts of interest, selection and award delivery. When applying, the candidates formally accept to present a lecture related to their PhD thesis work at a seminar organized in Belgium.
They agree to have names, pictures, affiliations, title of the work and abstracts of the work to be released publicly free of charge by ED15 in the context o the promotion of the F.R.S.-FNRS ED15 best PhD thesis award by any mean (online, press, …).
