This senior level position presents an excellent opportunity for an outstanding and experienced molecular biologist to join Discovery Research CNS Biology based in Braine L’Alleud, Belgium. The remit of CNS Biology include but are not limited to, supporting pre-clinical CNS drug discovery projects by developing differentiating and disease relevant biochemical and cell based assays, by screening compounds and delivering high quality data in a timely fashion.

As a Molecular Biology & Protein Expression specialist, you will develop and evaluate new delivery systems for the optimal expression of target genes in CNS-relevant cell types to support compound proofing and mode of action studies. You will be responsible for the timely supply of cell lines and high quality protein material produced in house or through external collaborators to multiple project team. Collaborating with other departments, you will plan and execute target ID and target validation studies.

In addition to providing technical expertise, you will manage a group of PhD level scientists engaged in cross functional project teams. This requires defining and implementing the department strategy for Molecular Biology & Protein Expression, manage budget and infrastructure.  You will develop and extend the already ongoing outsourcing and external collaboration and partnership strategy to capture innovative science and technologies. Naturally you will provide scientific support as a leader of cross-functional project teams or act as mentor for junior scientists. Keeping up-to-date with relevant scientific literature to pro-actively identify and recommend new targets or new assays/technologies will be essential. Whenever possible, publications of data in peer reviewed journals are also highly encouraged.
